Christmas Tree Sale Follow-up

Image of Croton Lions leaders at Christmas tree sale

The Croton Lions Club would like to thank everyone who came to buy their Christmas tree from us. Know that you helped contribute to the many charities that the Lions support.

We sold over 430 trees and the ones we didn’t sell were donated to the Bronx Zoo to feed their large animals such as bison, rhinoceros and other animals that like to eat evergreen fir trees.

All money raised from the sale of the Christmas trees will go towards helping the many charities the Lions support: BluePath service dogs for autistic children, Croton Caring Committee, Harry Chapin Run Against Hunger, Croton Free Library, scholarships to Croton-Harmon High School graduate students and many other charitable organizations.

We want to thank Mayor Brian Pugh, Village Manager Bryan Healy and the Croton Village Board for allowing the Lions club to use space on South Riverside Avenue, enabling our most important annual fundraiser.

We also want to thank all the volunteers including members and nonmembers, scouts and their parents. Susan Szkodinsky, Jennifer Kooney, and Eliot Deleon were the leaders that coordinated their time. Marlene Ratcliff, administrative assistant at Croton-Harmon High School, was instrumental.

Claudia Romano, a Lions member, organized the volunteers and Lions members in the operation of selling the trees. Great job Claudia, Thank You!

The Croton Lions Club has been serving the local community and the Village of Croton for over 85 years. We are part of the largest service organization in the world, providing disaster relief to communities in need worldwide.

We are always looking for new members, please join and help us continue to do good things. Our motto: WE SERVE.
